Govt will hold good election with cooperation of all: Jahangir

DHAKA, July 26, 2025 (BSS) - Home Adviser Lieutenant General Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) today said the government will be able to hold the next election in a peaceful and good manner with the help of all concerned.

"We will be able to hold a good and peaceful election if all the stakeholders cooperate us," he said after visiting the Police Lines in Narayanganj.  

Replying to a question, he said the largest stakeholders of the election are the candidates of the political parties, then the election commission, administration and the home ministry. 

The Home Adviser also sought support from the general public and media to help ensure a fair and transparent electoral process.
   
Asked about the measures to recover the looted firearms after August 5 last to ensure a peaceful election, Jahangir said they are in hot pursuit in recovering all the looted firearms. 

"Many more looted firearms may be recovered prior to the election," he hoped. 

Replying to a question regarding delay in investigation into the July uprising cases, the home adviser said it is taking time as many innocent people were made accused in the cases. 

When asked about the measures taken by the government against some political parties which are creating conflict between the police and the people and misleading the nation, he said the best remedy of the matter is to publish the true news. 

"There will always be a vested quarters which is trying to making differences. You can play the best role by publishing the true news in this connection," he said. 

During his visit to Narayanganj District Police Lines, the home adviser planted an olive tree sapling in the mosque premises of Police Lines. 

Then he visited the Police Lines Canteen, Ration Store, Motor Vehicle and Watercraft Branch, Police Lines Mess. 

At that time, he inquired officers on various issues and gave necessary directions. 

During the inspection, Additional IGP and Director General, (DG) of RAB AKM Shahidur Rahman, DIG, Dhaka Range Rezaul Karim Mallick and Superintendent of Police, Narayanganj, Pratyush Kumar Majumder among others were present.
