EC to publish draft updated voter list tomorrow

DHAKA, Aug 9, 2025 (BSS) – The Election Commission (EC) will publish the draft of updated voter list tomorrow, ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliament election.

EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed told BSS today that the draft list will include the earlier excluded approximately 4.45 million voters and will remove names of the deceased individuals. He added that the disposal of claims and objections will be finalized by August 31.

Earlier, on August 4, the EC issued a press release announcing that the draft voter list would be published on August 10. Following necessary corrections, the final voter list is scheduled for release on August 31.

According to the press release, On August 10, the EC will publish the supplementary voter list comprising individuals registered in the voter database up to June 30, 2025, who were born on or before January 1, 2007, along with a list of deceased voters for deletion.

After the publication of the supplementary list, applications for inclusion of eligible names, deletion due to death or ineligibility, voter transfer, and correction of errors may be submitted by August 21. The final voter list, incorporating all updates, will be published on August 31.

Previously, on July 21, EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said that 44 lakhs 66 thousand new voters have been added to the list this cycle.
