Govt making all preparations for election in February: Asif Mahmud

RANGPUR, Aug 20, 2025 (BSS) - Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan today said that the government is already making all kinds of preparations for holding the Jatiya Sangsad election in February next. 
 
"If the political parties reach a consensus on the July Charter in the Consensus Commission meeting, we will be able to move more firmly towards the elections," he said.
 
Asif Mahmud, also Adviser to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, made the observation while talking to journalists after paying tribute to martyr Abu Sayeed by placing a wreath at the 'Shaheed Abu Sayeed Memorial' in Begum Rokeya University this afternoon.
 
Later in the afternoon, Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan participated in the prize distribution ceremony of the final game of the 'July 36 Football Tournament' held at the Rangpur District Stadium as the chief guest.
 
In the exciting final match of the '36 July Football Tournament', Gangachara Upazila XI emerged as the invincible champions of the tournament and won the trophy by defeating Rangpur Sadar Upazila XI by 2-1 goals.
