DHAKA, Sept 5, 2025 (BSS) - The holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi, commemorating the birth and demise anniversary of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM) will be observed tomorrow across the country with due religious solemnity.

The decision was taken at the meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee, held on August 24 at the Islamic Foundation (IF) Conference Room at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, with Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs AKM Aftab Hossain Pramanik in the chair.

On the 12th of Rabiul Awal in 570 Hijri, Prophet Muhammad (SM) was born in Makkah, bringing divine blessings and a message of peace for mankind. He also passed away on the same day in 632 Hijri.

The government has declared a general holiday on September 6 to mark the occasion.

On the eve of the day, Chief Adviser Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus will issue separate messages greeting the people of Bangladesh and Muslims across the world.

Marking the day, Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Bangladesh Betar will broadcast special programmes and different national dailies will publish supplements highlighting the significant of the day.

The national flag will be hoisted at all government, semi-government, autonomous institutions, private buildings and military establishments throughout the country.

As in previous years, important areas in Dhaka will be adornet with the national flag, colorful banners and placards inscribed with 'Kalima Tayyiba'.

The Islamic Foundation (IF) has been tasked with organizing various religious and cultural events, including Qiraat (Quran recitation), Hamd-Na'at (praise of the Prophet), poetry recitations and a Khutba writing competition in Arabic.

Under the IF initiative, a range of programmes has been scheduled nationwide, including at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.

The opening ceremony took place yesterday after Maghrib prayers at the East Sahan of the National Mosque. A 15-day Waz Mahfil will be held at the same venue after Maghrib prayers from today until September 19, featuring speeches by renowned Islamic scholars.

In a joint initiative with Bangladesh Betar, a four-day seminar on the life and works of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) will be held at the Baitul Mukarram Auditorium.

It will later be broadcast on Bangladesh Betar Dhaka Center's 'K' channel and FM 106 from 10:05 pm to 10:40 pm. The sessions will also be recorded before a live audience at the Islamic Foundation Auditorium.

To mark the occasion, a Seerat memorial featuring writings by prominent scholars, Islamic writers, poets and researchers has been published.

A month-long Islamic Book Fair will also be held in the eastern and southern courtyards of the National Mosque, beginning September 13, with around 200 stalls.

Book publishers from Egypt, Turkey, Pakistan, and Lebanon will participate, and the fair will run daily from 10 am to 8 pm.

An Islamic Cultural Competition has been organized for students of schools, colleges, Aliya and Qawmi Madrasas, and government and private universities in Dhaka.

Students will compete in seven subjects across three groups. The competition will take place at the Islamic Foundation Agargaon office on September 15-16, with prizes awarded on September 18.

Special sessions of Qiraat Mahfil, Hamd-Na'at, and poetry recitations in honor of the Prophet (PBUH) will be held on September 11 and 17 after Maghrib prayers, and on September 18 after Asr prayers. The Islamic Foundation will also publish commemorative souvenirs and organize seminars during the occasion.

Similar programmes, including waz mahfil and Islamic cultural competitions, will be held at all divisional and district offices of the Islamic Foundation, 56 Islamic missions and eight Imam Training Academies across the country.

For children, the Bangladesh Shishu Academy will organize Hamd-Na'at performances, essay competitions, and discussion sessions.

In addition, improved diets will be served in military and civilian hospitals, prisons, Shishu Sadan, old-age homes, and orphanages nationwide.

The day will also be observed with due reverence at Bangladesh's embassies and missions abroad, ensuring a global commemoration of this sacred event.

Meanwhile, the government has made comprehensive security arrangements across the country for the peaceful observance of the day.

Emphasis has been placed on ensuring smooth and secure congregations and processions, particularly in major cities such as Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, Khulna and Rajshahi, to mark the auspicious occasion.

Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has ordered law enforcement agencies to maintain heightened vigilance and ensure foolproof arrangements, particularly at major mosques and other religious places where large gatherings are expected.

Enhanced surveillance and patrolling at sensitive locations have already been ensured.

Measures have also been taken for efficient crowd management to prevent any untoward incidents. The steps also stressed proper traffic regulation to ensure smooth movement of devotees.
