DHAKA, Sept 11, 2025 (BSS) - The Philippine Embassy in Bangladesh, in partnership with celebrity chef Tommy Miah, has hosted a networking dinner to promote cultural diplomacy through Filipino cuisine and music.

The event, held at a city hotel on Tuesday evening, gathered diplomats, business leaders, hospitality partners, and friends of the Philippines, according to a press release here today.

Welcoming the guests, Ambassador Nina P. Cainglet described food as a "universal language that connects people across borders and cultures," noting that sharing meals helps strengthen friendships.

Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Water Resources Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan, graced the occasion and called for uplifting the status of farmers, peasants, and fishermen, saying "food must celebrate culture and the people behind it."

A live cooking demonstration of the Philippines' national dish, chicken adobo, led by Embassy Administrative Officer Arthur Blas, was a highlight of the evening.

Chef Tommy Miah also presented his own version of adobo chicken taco bites, blending Filipino flavours with modern culinary style.

The Embassy staff performed Original Pilipino Music (OPM) to mark Buwan ng Wika (National Language Month).

The dinner also served as a pre-event for the Taste Asia Festival 2025, to be held in Sylhet in November, and was seen as a step toward further strengthening cultural ties between the Philippines, Bangladesh, and regional partners.
