DHAKA, Sept 11, 2025 (BSS) - National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam has congratulated the newly elected leaders of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) and hall unions.

In a message posted on his official Facebook page on Wednesday night, Nahid Islam said, "I convey my heartfelt greetings and warm congratulations to all the newly elected leaders of DUCSU and hall unions of Dhaka University."

He remarked that the participatory and competitive nature of the elections allowed students to choose their representatives, which he termed "a positive stride in the practice of democracy".

Expressing optimism, the NCP Convener said DUCSU should serve as a platform for students to realize their aspirations and dreams. He hoped that the newly elected leadership would play an effective role in fostering a democratic, academic, and terror- and fascism-free environment on campus.

Extending his good wishes to the candidates who did not win, Nahid Islam said, "I also convey my best wishes to those who participated in this election but could not win. The practice of healthy competition will lay a strong foundation for the leaders of tomorrow."

He further expressed hope that DUCSU elections would continue regularly and added, "We hope that regular student union elections will soon be held in all universities and colleges, so that the youth of Bangladesh can engage in democratic practices and contribute to national reconstruction."

In the DUCSU election, candidates of the United Student Alliance panel, supported by Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir, secured victory in 23 out of 28 posts, including the positions of Vice President, General Secretary, and Assistant General Secretary.
