Special measures underway to reduce student dropout: Bidhan

SUNAMGANJ, Jan 11, 2026 (BSS) - Primary and Mass Education Adviser Professor Dr Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder today said the government is taking special measures, including the school feeding programme, to reduce the rate of student dropouts at the primary level.

The adviser made the remarks while visiting Golha Government Primary School in his native village under Sadar Union, Jamsherpur Government Primary School and Madhyanagar Bazar Government Primary School in Madhyanagar upazila.

After the inspections, he held a press conference at his residence.

He said initiatives are being implemented to ensure students remain in school and complete their primary education.

Responding to concerns over the shortage of teachers in primary schools in Madhyanagar upazila, the adviser said the problem would be resolved soon, noting that the teacher recruitment process is currently underway.

On the school feeding programme, Dr Bidhan said the initiative would be expanded gradually to bring all primary schools across the country under its coverage.
