DHAKA, Mar 3, 2026 (BSS) - Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has directed the immediate removal of banners and billboards displayed across the capital congratulating him and featuring his photograph.

Prime Minister's Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman said that the premier issued the directive to the concerned authorities today.

"On Tuesday morning, while travelling to his office from his Gulshan residence, the Prime Minister noticed a banner bearing his photograph in front of Police Plaza in the Hatirjheel area. He immediately ordered its removal, and the banner was taken down at once," Ruman said.

Noting that various companies had displayed advertisements on billboards across the capital featuring the Prime Minister's photograph, the additional press secretary said, "He has instructed the concerned authorities to remove those advertisements promptly."

He added that a few days ago, while passing through Bijoy Sarani, the premier saw his photograph displayed on an LED screen with congratulatory messages and ordered its immediate removal.

Ruman said the Prime Minister today arrived at his Cabinet Division office in the Bangladesh Secretariat at 9:10 am. After his arrival at the office, Bangladesh Coast Guard Director General (DG) Rear Admiral Md Ziaul Hoque paid a courtesy call on the premier.

During the meeting with Coast Guard DG, Ruman said, Tarique Rahman gave directives to intensify regular patrols in coastal and Bay of Bengal areas to prevent piracy, robbery and illegal trafficking, and to protect fisheries resources and ensure the safety of fishermen.
