DHAKA, March 18, 2026 (BSS) - Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is sending Eid gifts to families affected by enforced disappearances, killings and repression, as well as to the families of those martyred during the July mass uprising.

Distribution of money for the Eid gifts began on Tuesday for all districts across the country, said Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman today.

Like the previous years, he said, BNP Chairman and Chief Patron of “Amra BNP Poribar” Tarique Rahman is giving the Eid gifts this year too.

This year, families who have suffered from enforced disappearances, killings and repression over the past 17 years and members of the July 2024 movement martyrs’ families will get the Eid gifts.

Ruman said, “Every year, Mr Tarique Rahman provides ‘Eid gifts’ to families of victims of enforced disappearances, killings and repression. Since 2025, efforts have also been made to reach the families of those martyred in the July movement”.

Although there has been a slight delay this year due to the government’s busy schedule in its first month, he said Tarique Rahman has not forgotten them (the victims’ family members).

Tarique Rahman has been providing 'Eid gifts' to oppressed families during the month of Ramadan since 2016. This year, about 190 families are receiving the Prime Minister's Eid gift money.

Member Secretary of “Amra BNP Poribar” agriculturist Mokhchedul Momin Mithun said that efforts were initially made to distribute funds through bank accounts.

However, due to time constraints, the money for Eid gifts is reaching every district very quickly through BNP and its affiliated organizations, along with “Amra BNP Poribar” teams.
