
DHAKA, March 29, 2026 (BSS) - A Japanese delegation today met State Minister for Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Md. Nurul Hoque at his office in Dhaka, expressing keen interest in facilitating higher education and employment opportunities for Bangladeshi students in Japan.
During the meeting, the delegation proposed introducing Japanese language and cultural training programmes aimed at equipping Bangladeshi students with the necessary skills to study and work in Japan.
They also expressed willingness to provide intensive training through native Japanese instructors to ensure effective learning and better cultural adaptation.
The delegation said Bangladeshis aspiring to pursue education or employment in Japan would gain valuable exposure to the country's language and culture, which would significantly enhance their prospects for success in the workplace.
Both sides agreed to examine the proposals in detail and move forward towards signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the earliest possible time.
Welcoming the initiative, the State Minister said the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) has a wide network of modern, well-equipped training centres across the country.
He invited the Japanese side to utilize these facilities to provide language and cultural training to Bangladeshi students.
Highlighting the longstanding bilateral relations, the State Minister noted that Japan has remained a trusted friend of Bangladesh since the Liberation War, expressing optimism that the initiative would further strengthen the existing ties.
Secretary of the ministry Md Mokhter Ahmed, Joint Secretary Md Shahidul Islam Chowdhury and other senior officials were present at the meeting.
