DHAKA, April 13, 2026 (BSS) - Cultural affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury today expressed hope that the country's lost glory can be recovered with proper leadership.

He said, "We believe that if we can provide proper leadership, we will be able to recover our lost glory. We can again stand tall as the best in South Asia."

The minister made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest on the first day of a five-day program series organized by the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy to celebrate the Chaitra Sankranti and the Bangla Nababarsha.

On the first day of the program series, he inaugurated an exhibition of Bangladeshi folk art at the academy's National Art Gallery building.

Later, the culture minister enjoyed the academy's Chaitra Sankranti programs from the open stage.

Regarding the Pahela Baishakh arrangements, he said, "We have undertaken various programs for Pahela Baishakh. The New Year's celebration is essentially a farmer's culture. The people of this country never went abroad or to other countries to change their fate. Rather, tourists and sages from various countries have come here. But due to various historical reasons, we have fallen far behind. This will be restored."
