
DHAKA, Apr 12, 2026 (BSS) - In a joint drive to curb illegal hoarding and stabilize the market for essential commodities, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), in coordination with the district administration, Food Department and police, seized a large quantity of soybean oil and government-distributed flour in Narayanganj.
The drive was conducted on Sunday afternoon in the Nitaiganj area under the supervision of Major Md. Farzin Fahim, Deputy Commander of Narayanganj Battalion (62 BGB), along with Additional District Magistrate Kafi Bin Kadim, Executive Magistrate Khandakar Sumit Raja, District Food Controller Md. Babul Hossain, a press release said.
During the operation, authorities raided Messrs BK Food Product at 81 Bangshal Road and recovered 7,500 liters of illegally hoarded and repackaged soybean oil.
The owner of organisation, Gautam Kumar Saha, was fined Tk 50,000.
In follow-up drive, teams searched SD Flour Mills and Gausul Azam Food and Elite Mill, where they seized 650 sacks (32.5 tons) of flour belonging to the TCB), which had been unlawfully stockpiled.
The managers and general managers of the respective organizations were fined a total of Tk 200,000 through a mobile court.
In default of payment, they were sentenced to simple imprisonment for 7 days and one month, respectively.
Lieutenant Colonel Mirza Mohammad Arafat, Commanding Officer of Narayanganj Battalion (62 BGB), stated that BGB remains vigilant to ensure a fair supply of essential goods and prevent illegal hoarding and market manipulation.
