Cabinet decides to observe ‘National Revolution and Solidarity Day’ on Nov 7

DHAKA, April 16, 2026 (BSS) – The government has decided to observe National Revolution and Solidarity Day on November 7, marking the historical release of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.

A cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, took the decision at the Secretariat here this evening.

At the same time, it was decided to reinstate the public holiday by declaring the day as an ‘A-category’ national observance.

Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Ghani disclosed the information at a press conference after the meeting at the Information Department at the Secretariat.

“The cabinet has decided to observe November 7 as National Revolution and Solidarity Day as before. The day will be observed with due dignity and will be marked as a public holiday,” he said.

“We are reinstating the observance which the previous government had cancelled,” he added.

Other decisions of the cabinet meeting include setting a target to produce 10,000 megawatts of solar electricity annually and declaring July 6 as National Rural Development Day.
