Bangladesh, China discuss connectivity, trade cooperation

DHAKA, May 7, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh and China today discussed expanding cooperation in connectivity, trade, investment, multilateral platforms and regional affairs as the two countries reaffirmed their longstanding friendship during high-level talks in Beijing.
  
The discussion was held when Bangladesh Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman met Liu Haixing, Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee (IDCPC), in Beijing, said a foreign ministry’s press release said here. 
  
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the longstanding ties between Bangladesh and China, placing particular emphasis on enhancing connectivity, boosting trade and investment, strengthening multilateral cooperation and exchanging views on regional issues of mutual interest.
  
Dr. Rahman highlighted Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s vision of building a connected, economically vibrant and globally engaged Bangladesh.
  
Both sides also reaffirmed their commitment to the One China Principle and expressed readiness to further deepen bilateral cooperation across strategic sectors.
