CHANDPUR, May 16, 2026 (BSS) - Prime Minister Tarique Rahman arrived in the district this afternoon to join a series of programmes, including inauguration of canal re-excavation, Family Card distribution and party meeting.

The premier arrived at Waruk Bazar area of Tamta Dakshin Union in Shahrasti Upazila here around 2:40 pm to inaugurate the Khordda Canal re-excavation work.

On his way to Chandpur, Tarique Rahman, also ruling BNP chairman, addressed a roadside rally at Lakshmipur Bazar ground in Barura Upazila in Cumilla around 1:30 pm. 

Earlier in the morning, the Prime Minister left his Gulshan residence in Dhaka for Chandpur by road around 8:45am.

This is his first visit to Chandpur after assuming office as Prime Minister.

Tarique Rahman last visited Chandpur in 2004 as the Senior Joint Secretary General of BNP.
