Earthquake jolts parts of Bangladesh

DHAKA, June 7, 2026 (BSS) - A moderate earthquake originating in Bhutan's Punakha district was felt in Dhaka and other parts of Bangladesh tonight.

The 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck at 11:36 pm, with its epicentre located about 15 kilometres west-northwest of Punakha in Bhutan.

The tremor was also felt across several neighbouring regions including parts of Nepal, India and China.

However, no immediate reports of casualties or damage were received from anywhere in Bangladesh following the earthquake.
