Shaheed Abu Sayeed Foundation distributes 1,000 blankets

RANGPUR, Jan 2, 2025 (BSS) - Shaheed Abu Sayeed Foundation (SASF) today
distributed 1,000 blankets among the cold-stricken poor and distressed people
in a function held at Jafarpara High School ground in Pirganj upazila of the
district.
 
The SASF, named after Shaheed Abu Sayeed, was established in his birthplace
village of Babanpur near Jafarpara on December 8 last as a non-profitable
organisation for serving the distressed humanity and social development
activities.
 
Abu Sayeed was a brilliant student of the Department of English at Begum
Rokeya University and one of the student coordinators, who was martyred in
police firing in the anti-discrimination student movement on July 16 in
Rangpur city.
 
Pirganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Most Khadija Begum attended the function and
distributed the blankets among the helpless and poor cold-stricken people of
the area as the chief guest.
 
President of SASF and Abu Sayeed's brother Md Ramjan Ali presided over the
function.
 
Vice-president of SASF Md Taijul Islam, General Secretary Md Abu Hossain,
Joint General Secretaries Md Rezaur Karim and Md Mohidul Islam, Organising
Secretary Md Ruhul Amin, Finance Secretary Md Rafikul Islam and executive
members Md Shafiul Azam, Md Shamsur Rahman and Md Arman Hossain were present.
 
Talking to BSS tonight, SASF General Secretary and Abu Sayeed's brother Abu
Hossain said that distribution of blankets among the cold-hit poor and
helpless people of the area to mitigate their sufferings will continue in the
future.
 
"Earlier, we distributed Taka 2.10 lakh among 210 orphans and extremely poor
and distressed people of the area with Taka 1,000 each on the inaugural day
of the Shaheed Abu Sayeed Foundation on December 8 last," he said.
