DHAKA, Jan 23, 2025 (BSS) - Interim government adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan today said if any adviser wishes to join politics, he or she will leave position in the government before doing so.

“We strongly oppose any involvement with political parties by those in government. If any adviser wishes to engage in politics, he or she will leave position in the government before joining it,” he said in a facebook post this evening.

Asif Mahmud, the adviser for the ministries of local government as well as youth and sports, also emphasized that political parties should refrain from interfering in government affairs, including making influence or putting pressure regarding appointments to key government or constitutional positions.

“Political parties should not interfere in government affairs. Lobbying or pressuring for appointments to important governmental or constitutional positions is unacceptable,” said Asif Mahmud.
