Police arrest drug trader, snatcher Lalon from Paltan area

DHAKA, Jan 24, 2025 (BSS) – Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested an identified drug trader 
and mugger Lalon, 34, from the city’s Paltan area last night.

Police said Lalon, accused in 22 cases, has been involved in drug trading in the city for long.

DMP's Paltan Model Police Station said they arrested him after conducting a raid at Ershad 
Goli area of Paltan Model Police Station last night.

According to police, on November 13, 2024, in Shaheed Matiur Park area of Paltan Police 
Station, Lalon and his associates attacked Md Jamal with a sharp weapon and seriously 
injured him and robbed him of a mobile phone and Tk. 17,300 in cash. 

A case was filed with Paltan Model Police Station on November 16, 2024, based on the 
complaint of the victim. 

During the investigation of the case, Lalon was arrested by Paltan Model Police Station from 
the spot adjacent to the east gate of Baitul Mukarram Mosque.

Police further said that the arrested Lalon is a professional drug dealer and robber. He and 
his associates are involved in various illegal drug sales and numerous robberies in the Paltan 
Model Police Station area and surrounding areas. 

A total of 22 cases of robbery and drugs were filed against Lalon in the capital's Paltan 
Model Police Station, Motijheel Police Station, Mugda Police Station and Demra Police 
Station.
