Four held with adulterated drugs in city’s Kamrangirchar

DHAKA, Jan 24, 2025 (BSS) – Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested four active members of the adulterated medicine manufacturing and selling ring along with a huge quantity of adulterated medicines from city's Kamrangichar area on Thursday night.

The arrested persons are identified as Md Mayeen Uddin, 40, Md Sabuj, 45, Md Bachchu, 26 and Md Chan Miah, 70, said in a DMP press release today.

Based on secret information, a team of DB-Lalbagh Division conducted a raid on Alinagar Bazar area around 9pm and detained them.

Police seized 265 packets of adulterated medicines including 90 packets of Rhophylac 300, Human anti-D (Rh), Immunoglobulin (Switzerland) and 175 G-PETHIDINE Injection (PETHIDINE HYDROCHLORIDE BP) and various old and used medical supplies from their possession.

However, after sensing the presence of the police, other 12/13 aids of the arrestees fled the spot, the release added.

During initial interrogation, the arrestees admitted to the police that they kept those drugs for selling purpose.
 
A regular case has been filed with Kamrangichar Police Station against the arrested and absconding individuals.
