DHAKA, Jan 25, 2025 (BSS)- Biman Bangladesh Airlines will operate an additional flight on Dhaka-Madina-Dhaka route on every Sunday from February 2 next to cope with the high demand of Saudi bound passengers.

“We have decided to operate an additional weekly flight to Madina following a request from ATAB,” Biman’s Managing Director and CEO Dr Md Shafiqur Rahman told BSS today.

The decision was taken after an emergency meeting between Biman and a delegation from the Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh (ATAB), led by its president, Abdus Salam Aref.

The meeting focused on addressing the surge in airfares, particularly for Middle Eastern destinations.

In response to ATAB’s appeal, the national flag carrier decided to introduce the additional flight to alleviate the pressure on the Dhaka-Madina route.

ATAB highlighted that the bulk sale and hoarding of tickets by airlines without requiring names, passports, or visas have significantly contributed to the spike in ticket prices.
