Deal inked with Japanese firm to improve Cox's Bazar fish landing centre

TOKYO, Jan 29, 2025 (BSS) - An agreement was signed between Bangladesh Fisheries Development Corporation (BFDC) and JDC-Konoike Joint Venture to implement the 'Project for Improvement of Fish Landing Center of BFDC in Cox's Bazar District'.

The agreement signing ceremony was held at the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo, Japan today. BFDC Chairman Suraiya Akhtar Jahan signed the agreement on behalf of the Bangladesh government, according to an official release.

The project is being implemented with the grant assistance of the Japanese government, the release added.

In the signing ceremony, Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Md Daud Ali thanked the Japanese government for its continued support and cooperation in the development of Bangladesh. 

Mentioning Japan as the single largest development partner of Bangladesh, the ambassador said that this cooperation is gradually expanding in various fields, including trade and commerce, agriculture, infrastructure, communication, health, education and human resource development. 

He expressed the hope that the friendly relations between the two countries will further strengthen in the coming days.
