DHAKA, Feb 4, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh has co-hosted an event on UN peacekeeping operations impact along with Germany, Italy, South Korea and Slovenia at the United Nations headquarters in New York, a foreign ministry press release said here today.

It said the event was staged to raise awareness on the issue and review the UN peacekeeping operations’ achievements in reducing their environmental footprint.

Bangladesh permanent representative to the UN Ambassador Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury briefed about the contribution of Bangladesh’s peacekeepers to the issue at the event moderated by his Slovak counterpart at the side event held on January 31.

Chowdhury, the press release said, called for transforming the peacekeeping missions into more environmentally friendly entities, adopting innovative approaches, saving biodiversity of the host countries and training of the peacekeepers to supplement the work of Agenda 2030.
