BSMMU holds awareness rally to prevent cancer

DHAKA, Feb 4, 2025 (BSS) - BSMMU Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Mujibur Rahman Hawlader has called upon to all to take initiative for raise awareness in cancer prevention.

He made the call as chief guest at a pep rally in front of D-Block of BSMMU on the occasion of Cancer Day. 

Prof Mujibur also asked doctors and students to focus on research more to prevent cancer, and ensure better medical services for cancer patients.
  
He urged the common people to avoid tobacco products, especially tobacco leaves, jardda and betel nut, to stay away from oral cancer.

Speaking on the occasion as special guest, BSMMU Treasurer Professor Dr. Nahreen Akhtar laid emphasis on cancer prevention, saying that women can prevent breast and cervical cancer becoming aware about it. 

Apart from this, cervical cancer can be largely prevented by receiving time vaccine, she added.

Heads of different department of BSMMU were present.

Later, a rally was brought out to bring awareness on cancer.
