Prof Mohammad Ali Azadi appointed VC of IIUC

DHAKA, Feb 6, 2025 (BSS) - Professor Dr Mohammad Ali Azadi has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC).

President Mohammed Shahabuddin, also the chancellor of the university, approved the appointment of Prof. Mohammad Ali Azadi for a four-year term as per Section 31(1) of the Private University Act 2010, according to a gazette notification signed by Deputy Secretary Rokhsana Begum.

Prior to his appointment as VC, Prof Mohammad Ali served as the acting vice-chancellor of the university.

Born in 1954 in Pashchim Keshua village under Chandanaish upazila in the Chattogram district, Prof Mohammad Ali obtained an honors degree in botany in 1976 and a master's degree in 1979, according to the notification issued on Wednesday.

He joined the university as a lecturer in the botany department in 1980.
