Work unitedly to make BRUR world-class university: Vice-Chancellor

RANGPUR, Feb 6, 2025 (BSS) - Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md Showkat Ali today urged all concerned, including journalists, to work unitedly to transform BRUR into a world-class university.

"There is no alternative to the responsible role of journalists working from the campus in providing a positive direction for the university," he said.

He stated that if students receive a quality education and establish themselves successfully in the country and abroad, the university will gain global recognition.

"Everyone should work together to establish the university as one of the leading institutions by advancing education and research," he said.

Dr. Showkat Ali made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the election and charge handover ceremony of the Begum Rokeya University Journalists' Association (BRUJA) Executive Council.

After voting at the BRUJA office in the university cafeteria, Chief Election Commissioner and Director of the Office of Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Md Ileas Pramanik, announced the election results.

In the election for the two-year term (2025-2026) of the BRUJA Executive Council, The Daily Campus correspondent Md Anwar Hossain was elected president, while The Dainik Amar Desh correspondent Md Emon Ali was elected general secretary.

The university's Registrar, Dr. Md Harun-or-Rashid, along with teachers from various departments, media personnel, and students, were present on the occasion.
