DHAKA, Feb 8, 2024 (BSS)- Bangladesh Police   Association (BPA) has strongly protested the conspiracy against the state by former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed.

“It was learned that the fugitive IGP Benazir Ahmed, accused in several cases including genocide, corruption, and money laundering participated in a conspiratorial meeting with followers of the fascist government in a virtual conference about Bangladesh police force,” the association said in a statement on Friday.

BPA strongly deplores and  protests   such conspiratorial actions, it said.

The statement was signed by its president Kamrul Hasan Talukder and general secretary Monirul Haque Dablu.

The statement said that one of her statements about Bangladesh police force is being circulated on social media, which has been drawn to the attention of the BPA.

The BPA believes that the statement has severely undermined the professionalism of the BPA and its members.

“Participating in such meetings and issuing statements is a deep –rooted conspiracy against the country which is also tantamount to treason. No force ever bears the responsibility of an individual,” the statement said.

All police members are shocked and angry at such actions against the police, it said.

“After the mass uprising of the students-people in July-August, all members of the police have been working very firmly and relentlessly with the spirit of patriotism to form the pro-people police force to implement the aspirations of the people to build a new Bangladesh,” the statement said.

All members of   Bangladesh police agree that the controversial members of the police force who were serving as subordinates of the fascist government should be tried under the existing    law of the land, it said.
