GAZIPUR, Feb 8, 2025 (BSS) - Sarjis Alam, a key-organizer of Jatiya Nagorik Committee (JNC) and a coordinator of anti-discrimination students’ movement today demanded immediate arrest and trial of the attackers on students in Gazipur.

“The cohorts of killer Hasina including Awami League, Juba League and Chhatra League activists are still roaming freely in and around Gazipur...Those terrorists are threatening us openly on social media platforms,” he alleged.

Sounding a note of caution, he said if law enforcement and intelligence agencies fail to capture those attackers by tonight, we will stand against those terrorists,” he said while addressing a protest rally organized by Gazipur district and metropolitan unit of JNC at Rajbari Field here.

Convener of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Hasnat Abdullah, JNC’s Central Organizer Adv. Ali Naser Khan, Central Member Adv. Sakib Md.Soaib, Anisur Rahman of JNC Gachathana unit and Suman Bari of JNC Kaliakair unit addressed the rally, among others.

In his speech, Sarjis said that the students and citizens of the country have shown patience with a view to building the state, but there is a limit to their tolerance and if it goes beyond the tolerance level, the countrymen may witness another revolution.

He warned that if any of their fighters are being harmed anywhere in Bangladesh, the entire nation will rise again against the criminals across the country.

Adv. Ali Naser Khan, Central Organizer of JNC called for cancellation of the Awami League's registration as a political party and demanded trial of the fascists under the Speedy Trial Tribunal.

Demanding freeze of bank accounts and assets of AL leaders and its supporters, he said that those who were involved in attacking the students in the AKM Mozammel Haque’s house must be arrested and tried soon under the speedy trial tribunal.

The protest follows an incident on Friday night when anti-discrimination student leaders were attacked by Awami League, Jubo League and Chhatra League activists in Gazipur's Dheerashram area.

Earlier, at around 3:00 am on Friday, Hasnat Abdullah and Sarjis Alam visited the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital in Gazipur to see the injured.
