Journalist Nasirul Alam passes away

CHATTOGRAM, Feb 25, 2025 (BSS) - Veteran journalist of Chattogram, Nasirul Alam passed away. He was 53.

He breathed his last at Chattogram Medical College Hospital at 1.30am last night.

Family members said that Nasirul suddenly felt sick at his home around 1am. Later, he was rushed to Chattogram Medical College Hospital where on duty doctors declared him dead.

He left behind his wife, two sons, host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.

Earlier, Nasir was seriously injured in a road accident. Since then, he had been suffering from various health complications.

His namaj-e-janaza was held in front of Badar Awalia mazar premises at 11.30am. Later, he was buried at his family grave yard in Badarpathi area under Kotwali thana in the city.

Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossen, leaders of different professional bodies, large number of colleagues, participated at the janaza prayer.

Deputy Commissioner and convener of Interim Committee of Chattogram Press Club (CPC) Farida Khanom, member secretary Zahidul Karim Kachi, Mohammad Shah Nowaz and Saleh Noman, president and secretary of Chattogram Metropolitan Union of Journalists (CMUJ), Shafique Ahmed Sajib and Md Ashraful Alam Chowdhury, president and secretary of TV Camera Journalists Association, Chattogram in separate condolence message expressed profound shock at the untimely death of Nasirul Alam.

They prayed for the eternal peace of his departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.

During his long professional career, Nasirul Alam was a camera person of Channel I, Channel one, Jamuna TV and Mohanagar News.
