DHAKA, March 3, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 2,192 readers and visitors received valuable information and services regarding government legal aid at the stall of the National Legal Aid Organization during the recently concluded Amar Ekushey Book Fair-2025, held at the Bangla Academy premises.

In a press release issued here today, the National Legal Aid Organization said that the organization participated in the prestigious book fair to raise awareness about its legal aid services for the first time, this year. 

The organization offered information and assistance to the public, highlighting the government's initiative to support those in need of legal help, the release added.

To engage with the large audience attending the month-long fair, the District Legal Aid Officer (Senior Assistant Judge) and qualified panel lawyers from the Dhaka District Legal Aid Committee were present daily at the stall. They provided legal consultations and answered various queries from the visitors.

As part of the initiative, the National Legal Aid Organization distributed free informational materials, including posters, leaflets, pamphlets, brochures, frequently asked questions (FAQs), and other publications about legal aid services. 

These materials were aimed at promoting the legal aid program and educating the public on how they could access government-sponsored legal assistance.

Additionally, the stall showcased legal journals and important publications from the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs and the Judicial Administration Training Institute.

This participation in the Amar Ekushey Book Fair reflects the National Legal Aid Organization's ongoing efforts to make legal services more accessible and raise awareness about its work in promoting justice for all segments of society.

The National Legal Aid Organization operates under the Ministry of Law and Justice and has been providing free legal services since the enactment of the 'Legal Aid Act' in 2000. This statutory body offers legal assistance to those who are financially disadvantaged, helpless, or socially vulnerable.

Through its Legal Aid Offices in 64 districts, the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office, and Workers' Legal Aid Cells in Dhaka and Chittagong, the organization ensures that legal services are accessible to all. It also operates a toll-free helpline, '16430,' providing free legal information and consultation to people nationwide, with the goal of ensuring legal rights for all citizens.
