GAIBANDHA, March 5, 2025 (BSS) - The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the district urged the affluent people to donate their Zakat money to the Zakat Fund here for helping poor and needy people in a bid to root out poverty from the society.

The DC office revealed the information on Tuesday afternoon.

Besides, a notice signed by the DC Choudhury Muazzam Ahmed has also been published to draw the attention of the society's affluent people.

In the eyes of Islam, Zakat is not merely a matter of donation, but a responsibility of the wealthy individuals towards the poor, the notice added.

The collected Zakat money is used in accordance with Islamic Shariah to alleviate poverty by helping the poor and distressed people of the society.

Wealthy individuals can contribute their Zakat money via the online account of Sonali Bank PLC, Gaibandha Branch (Account No. 5106200005146), or through receipts provided by the Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) or the Islamic Foundation.

Later, the DC encouraged the prosperous members of the society to step forward with a positive attitude and donate to the Zakat Fund before the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
