Over 1 cr SIM users leave Dhaka, 44 lakh return during Eid holidays

DHAKA, April 5, 2025 (BSS) – A total of 1, 07, 29,155 SIM card holders left Dhaka ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr to enjoy the largest festival of the Muslim community with their near and dear ones.

“In the last seven days from March 28 to April 3, 1 0,7 29,155 SIM card holders left Dhaka while 4,440,279 SIM card holders returned to Dhaka during the  same period,” according to official statistics.

Special Assistant to Chief Adviser Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb on Posts and Telecommunications Division shared the statistics in a post on his Facebook.   

Quoting the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) he wrote, “Some 1.7 crore SIM users left Dhaka during the seven days of Eid holidays. On the other hand, 44 lakh mobile SIM users entered Dhaka.”
