DMP issues traffic guideline for Pahela Baishakh

DHAKA, April 12, 2025 (BSS)- Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today issued a traffic guideline for peaceful, smooth celebration of the Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bangla New Year, 1432. 

As Pahela Baishakh will be celebrated on April 14, DMP has requested all follow the traffic instructions, said a DMP press release.

Road closures/road diversions will be effective in the following areas of Ramna Park (Ramna Batamul), Suhrawardy Udyan and Dhaka University and surrounding areas to control traffic from 5.00 am on April 14 (Monday). 

The areas to come under the purview of the closure/diversions are- Bangla Motor, Police Bhaban Crossing, Sugandha Crossing, Kakrail Church Crossing, Kadamfoara Crossing, High Court Crossing (East and South), Doel Chattar, Ramna Crossing, Dhaka University Medical Center,  Jagannath Hall, Bhaskarya Crossing, Nilkhet and Kantabon.

Transports will ply on the following roads except the diversion points in Ramna Park (Ramna Batmul), Suhrawardy Udyan and Dhaka University areas. 

Passenger vehicles heading towards Shahbagh from Mirpur-Farmgate will take a left turn at Bangla Motor and reach their destination via Moghbazar.

Motor vehicles heading towards Shahbagh from Golapshah Mazar-High Court will reach their destination via Kadamfoara-UBL Crossing and Nightingale Crossing.

Transports heading towards Shahbagh from Science Lab will reach their destination via Mirpur Road via Azimpur-Chankharpul-Bakshibazar Crossing.

Car parking areas: Navy Gap to Holy Family Hospital, Matsyabhaban Crossing to Segunbagicha (law enforcement vehicles), Shilpakala Academy Goli (law enforcement vehicles), From Katabon Crossing to Nilkhet Crossing to Palashi, from Doel Chattar Crossing to Shahidullah Hall and Abdul Gani Road.


The DMP has sought everyone's support to celebrate the festival of Pahela Baishakh in a peaceful and joyful atmosphere.
