DHAKA, April 12, 2025 (BSS) - The Dhaka University (DU) authorities today filed a case with Shahbag Police Station over burning a motif of fascist Sheikh Hasina's face at the university's Fine Arts Faculty, made for Noboborsho Shobhajatra.

Some unknown individuals were accused in the case, said Shahbag Police Station officer-in-charge Khalid Mansur this afternoon.

Earlier this morning, the Fine Arts Faculty lodged a general diary with the police station.

Analyzing CCTV footage, it was found that a man set fire to the motif early in the morning on Saturday.

The fire gutted the motif of fascist Sheikh Hasina completely and damaged adjacent motif called 'Peace Dove' partially.

Jumping over the wall, the perpetrator went to the site, poured liquid on a motif and set it on fire. He then jumped over the wall and went towards Suhrawardy Udyan, said DU Proctor Saifuddin Ahmed.

Efforts are underway to identify him, he added.

Meanwhile, the university administration has formed a five-member body to investigate into the incident.
