BFUJ demands immediate formation of 10th Wage Board

DHAKA, April 12, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) today demanded immediate formation of 10th Wage Board for journalists and newspaper employees.

BFUJ placed the demand in a meeting of the executive committee of the forum at Jatiya Press Club here today.

Acting president of BFUJ Obaidur Rahman Shahin chaired the meeting while general secretary Kader Gani Chowdhury, vice presidents Md Kharul Bashar and A K M Mohsin, senior leaders Basir Jamal, Shahidul Islam, Erfanul Haque Nahid, Abu Bakar, Shahin Hasnat, Motabbir Hossain, Aparna Roy, Khurshid Alam, Hamidul Haque Manik, Abu Hanif, Delwar Hossain, Saiful Islam, Kazi Biplob Hasan and Shakawat Hossain Manik were present among others.
  
BFUJ demanded an end to the killing and torture of journalists, trial of journalist couple Sagar-Runi murder and enacting journalist protection act.

The meeting also demanded for reopening of the media outlets closed during the fascist regime and providing compensation to the affected journalists.

BFUJ demanded for immediate payment of the arrears bill of government advertisement in newspapers.

The meeting called for freeing the media from the cohorts of the fascists, scrapping all black laws against the press freedom and the Cyber Security Act.

BFUJ demanded withdrawal of all false cases against journalists.

The meeting condemned Israeli atrocities on Palestine people and demanded stopping the genocide in Gaza and Rafa immediately.
