DHAKA, April 16, 2025 (BSS) - The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) in two separate drives today evicted over 400 illegal shops from the city's Agargaon and Uttara areas.

An eviction drive led by Executive Magistrate of Zone 5 Mohammad Saiful Islam and Executive Magistrate of the DNCC Md Shahidul Islam was conducted in the Agargaon area.

The team evicted shops along both sides of the road from Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University to the Dhaka-Aricha Highway, freeing nearly one and a half kilometers of road from traffic congestion and illegal encroachments.

Besides, another drive led by Executive Magistrate Md Sadekur Rahman was conducted at Uttara sector-10.

The drive was carried out from the Uttara Sluice Gate area to the Kamarpara area, from where over 200 illegal shops were evicted. As a result, more than half a kilometre of road was made free from traffic congestion.

DNCC Administrator Mohammad Ezaz in a public hearing recently declared that an eviction drive will be conducted in the DNCC area after the Pahela Baishakh.
