EC to announce election ‘action plan’ by July

DHAKA, April 16, 2025 (BSS)- Election Commissioner Md. Anwarul Islam has said the Election Commission (EC) will announce its ‘action plan’ for the 13th National Parliament elections by July next. 

"In addition, the EC will hold a dialogue with all political parties before announcing the election schedule," he said while talking to reporters ae EC secretariat here today.

The Election Commissioner said that all kinds of preparations of the EC are underway to hold the next elections in December.

He said that the all works including updating the voters list, reforming the RPO, policies and laws, delimitation, registration of new parties will be completed.

The commission will hold dialogue with the political parties before announcement of the election schedule, he said.

In response to a question, the Election Commissioner said that so far three new parties have applied for registration. EC will receive application from intending parties until April 20, he said adding that no decision has been taken yet to extend the time.

Anwarul Islam said that after completing the party registration, the EC will hold a meeting of Views exchange with the enlisted parties in August-September or earlier if possible.

Anwarul Islam said that the youth who will be 18 years of age before the election schedule will be eligible for voter. In view of this the existing law will be amended.
