DHAKA, April 18, 2025 (BSS) - A new committee of the Journalism Alumni Forum of Rajshahi University (JAFRU), an organization of former students of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism of Rajshahi University, has been formed.

Arefin Auden (third batch), regional head of the Mymensingh region of Samabay Bank, has been elected as the president while Md. Aktarul Islam (fourth batch), deputy director (public relations) of the Anti-Corruption Commission, as the general secretary.

The 23-member committee of the alumni was formed at the annual general meeting of the organization held at the Economic Reporters Forum (ERF) auditorium in the city’s Paltan area today.

Ferdous Mubarak (Business Standard) and Md. Jahangir Alam (Khaborer Kagoj) have been made vice-president, Sushant Sinha (71 TV) Joint General Secretary, Mahmudul Hasan Sohel (Maashranga TV) Organizing Secretary, Parvez Hasan Tarafdar (AGM, Sonali Bank) Finance Secretary,  Arafat Siddique (BBC Action) Human Resources and Administration Affairs Secretary,  Md. Shafiqul Islam (Ministry of Liberation War Affairs) Communication and Development Secretary,  Mehedi Hasan (Samkal) Sports Secretary, Afsara Tasnim (Master Head PR) Cultural Secretary while Shamsul Haque Shams (PRO, Ahsanullah University)  has been made Public Welfare Secretary.

Ruhul Quddus Khan Sumon (former president), Mahfuz Mishu, Jamuna TV (former general secretary), Shahnaz Siddique Soma (BSS), Sardar Mohiuddin (East-West University), Nazmul Hasan (Bangladesh Police), Jewel Kibria (Ministry of Information and Communication Technology), Zubair Shaon (Atapar Shabdayan) and Mainul Hossain (Jago News) have been elected as executive members of the committee.

Before the formation of the new committee, the AGM was held with JAFRU’s outgoing President Ruhul Quddus Khan Sumon in the chair while outgoing General Secretary Mahfuz Mishu moderated the programme.
