JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, April 18, 2025 (BSS) - Public Administration Department of Jahangirnagar University (JU) accorded a freshers’ reception to students of the department for the 2021-22, 2022-23, 2023-24 academic sessions and farewell ceremony to graduates for the academic session 2016-17.

Public Administration Department in collaboration with Students’ Union of Public Administration organized the function at the Zahir Raihan Auditorium of the university.
Addressing the function, JU Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Dr Sohel Ahmed said, “Public Administration is a flagship department of Jahangirnagar University. It has made Jahangirnagar known across the country.”

Addressing the newly admitted students, he said, “Those who have been enrolled in this department are truly fortunate. You are very talented. Many from this department have gone beyond the borders of the country and brought honour to the university from abroad. I hope you will uphold that legacy. Remember, you represent your family in this university—always keep that in mind.”

Acting Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor Shamsul Alam, said, “Freshers are a very important batch, they were deeply involved in the July Movement. Every new chapter in life brings new possibilities. Department of Public Administration is a significant department within the Faculty of Social Sciences.”

About the outgoing students, he said, “Farewell does not mean the end of a relationship. The bond between you and your teachers will always remain.”

Chairman of the department, Professor Hare Krishna Kundo said, “Organizing a farewell ceremony does not mean that students are parting forever. It is merely a formality. The doors of our department will always remain open to both former and current students.”
Besides, Prof Nurul Amin, Prof Mahmudur Rahman, associate professor Manir Uddin Sikder, lecturers Sanda Khatun, Fairuj Anica and Rifa Tasfia were present at the function.

The programme was moderated by of Public Administration Students’ Union’s assistant general secretary Mah Alam and career affairs secretary Rumaiya Afrin.
