Efforts on to make BRUR country’s best university: VC

RANGPUR, April 23, 2025 (BSS) - Vice-chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Professor Dr. Md. Showkat Ali has said that efforts are being made to develop the university as one of the best universities in the country.
 
“To attain this goal, the present administration is working to build an education-friendly campus in the university. Various initiatives have been taken to resolve the teacher and classroom shortages and other issues as soon as possible,” he said.
 
He said this while distributing merit cheques among the students -- who achieved the highest results in the 2024 undergraduate and postgraduate equivalent examinations -- in a function held at the university’s virtual classroom today as the chief guest. 
 
The Vice-chancellor said that it is possible to make the university the best university in the country through ensuring quality higher education and in-depth research work. 
 
For this, he urged the students to focus on studies and creative work without wasting time. 
 
He also said that since assuming office as Vice-chancellor, work is being done to develop different infrastructures to ensure various facilities for the students. 
 
He also called on the students to present the university positively in each level. 
 
A total of 408 students from 22 departments under six faculties of the university were awarded merit scholarships for the year 2024 in the function.
 
Presided over by the university’s Director of Finance and Accounts Professor Dr. Md. Shahzaman, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Professor Dr. Md. Mizanur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Life and Earth Science Professor Dr. Md. Emdadul Haque, Director of the Ofice of the Students Affairs Professor Dr. Md. Ilias Pramanik, Proctor Dr. Md. Ferdous Rahman, Librarian of the Central Library and Information Center Dr. Md. Moniruzzaman, Director of the Department of Physical Education Dr. Md. Siddiqur Rahman, Head of the Department of Geography and Environmental Science Md. Mostafizur Rahman, and students and officials of various departments were present at the event.
