DHAKA, April 25, 2025 (BSS) - The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has conducted two separate mobile court drives in Dhanmondi and Badda areas of Dhaka to control air pollution.

On Thursday, the drives were led by Siddhartha Shankar Kundu, Deputy Secretary and Executive Magistrate, and Sadia Islam Luna, Senior Assistant Secretary and Executive Magistrate, a ministry press release said today.

In Dhanmondi Road No. 2, a mobile court, led by Deputy Secretary Siddhartha Shankar Kundu, penalised the owner of an under-construction building opposite City College, adjacent to Popular Diagnostic Centre, for keeping construction materials in open spaces violating the Air Pollution (Control) Rules, 2022.

Taka 10,000 was realised and the building owner was ordered to remove the materials within two hours. Several other establishments were also warned during the drive.

On the same day, a drive was conducted in Aftabnagar, Badda, led by Senior Assistant Secretary Sadia Islam Luna.

Authorities of six under-construction buildings were fined a total of Taka 35,000 for similar violations, and several other entities were cautioned.

The ministry will continue conducting regular drives to enforce legal measures in controlling air pollution, the press release said.
