SAVAR, Nov 11, 2025 (BSS) - The police have arrested a leader of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) for allegedly being involved in a nationwide sabotage plan.

The arrestee was identified as Akash Hossain Jubo, 25, vice president of the banned Dhaka District Chhatra League.

Savar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jewel Mia today said Akash was taken into custody from the Radio Colony area of Savar Municipality based on a secret tip-off.

He said Akash is accused of brutal attacks on female students during anti-discrimination student movements at Dhaka University and firing at people in the Savar-Ashulia area.

He had been in hiding since then, OC Jewel Mia said.

He added that the BCL leader has been sent to court seeking seven-day remand and further legal action is underway.
