DHAKA, April 25, 2025 (BSS) - The Labour Reform Commission (LRC) has recommended the government introduce a labour-friendly pension scheme to ensure the social safety of labourers.

LRC submitted its report, regarding necessary reforms in this sector, to the chief adviser last Monday.

About the social safety of the labourers, the report suggests the government introduce pension facilities for the labourers under the national pension scheme with government funds.

For the labourers living under the poverty line, the report recommends the government ensure minimum pension facilities for the labourers and provide them with government aid.

The report suggests the government ensure provident fund facilities for the labourers working at private organisations, keeping their contribution to the funds as optional.

To make the pension claim process easy and smooth for the labourers, the commission's report suggested that the government should include them in the scheme under a central digital platform.

The report also proposed the government formulate institutional policies and build sports as well as cultural centres for ensuring labourers' post-retirement entertainment.
