Boro yield satisfactory: Jahangir

MUNSHIGANJ, April 26, 2025 (BSS) - Agriculture Adviser Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd) has said the yield of Boro rice in the country is satisfactory and its harvesting will be completed within the stipulated time.

Jahangir, also in charge of the Ministry of Home Affairs, said this during an inspection of paddy harvesting and threshing at Arial Beel in Srinagar Upazila of the district today.

In a meeting of views exchange with farmers the adviser said Arial Beel is an area with natural diversity. Everyone should be committed to protecting the biodiversity and environment here, he said. 

Necessary measures have been taken for drain out excess water and transportation of crops from Arial Beel and adjacent areas, he added.

Industries, Housing and Public Works Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan, Agriculture Secretary Dr. Mohammad Emdad Ullah Mian and senior officials of the district were present.

The adviser listened to the various problems of the farmers and assured them of resolving those difficulties.

The adviser assured the farmers of withdrawing the lawsuits filed against them for their protest against construction of an airport in Arial Beel.

He also asked for setting up a patrol police post immediately to stop illegal soil trading from the Arial Beel.

Industry, Housing and Public Works Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan said urged the local people to cooperate with the government to protect the environment of the Arial Beel.

He said the government has undertaken a project for development of Munshigonj district. The project should be implemented properly to increase food production to make the country self-reliant in food.
