Press council chairman seeks cooperation from all to fulfill its objectives

LAKSHMIPUR, April 28, 2025(BSS) - Chairman of Bangladesh Press Council Justice A K M Abdul Hakim today sought cooperation from all to fulfill its objectives saying that his council had been working on freedom of press.

“Cooperation from all including the young generation is crucial to fulfill the objectives of the council…the council has been working on freedom of press,” he said.

The Press Council Chairman was addressing a training workshop on “Resisting yellow journalism in mass media and objective journalism” at Lakshmipur Circuit House here as the chief guest.

“There is a gulf of difference between the speeches in seminar, symposium and meetings and the reality…it is easy to talk smartly but there is no reflection of it in the reality,” he mentioned.

The chairman said everyone should come forward with own capacity for the reforms and have to ensure objective journalism and the youth community should come forward in this regard first.

The workshop was organized by the Press Council with the support of local district administration where 40 journalists from print and electronic media joined.

Deputy Secretary of the council Md Abdus Sabur, Deputy Commissioner of Lakshmipur Rajib Kumar Sarkar, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) General J P Dewan, Additional Police Super (Crime and Ops) Md Hassan Mostafa swapon and District Information Officer Biswanath Majumder, were present on the occasion.
