DHAKA, April 29, 2025 (BSS) – Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) is firmly committed to implementing the Right to Information (RTI) Act to ensure transparency and accountability in its operations, said Air Vice Marshal Mohammad Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan today.

“The Right to Information Act, 2009 is a landmark legislation that facilitates transparency, accountability, and public participation in governance,” he said.

The CAAB chairman made the remarks while inaugurating a day-long workshop on RTI participated by aviation reporters at the CAAB headquarters in the capital.

Air Vice Marshal Bhuiyan reiterated that CAAB has always remained dedicated to upholding the principles of the RTI Act.

He also underscored the importance of responsible journalism, urging all concerned to refrain from publishing any information that may compromise national security.

“The country must come first. We must work with that mindset,” he added.

Highlighting the recent developments in air cargo operations, the chairman said cargo services through Chattogram Airport will commence soon, following the launch of the similar operations from Sylhet.

“In addition, international flights from Cox’s Bazar Airport are expected to begin by June,” he said.

Speakers at the workshop elaborated on the proper application of the RTI Act, procedures for accessing information, and the importance of a responsible approach to information dissemination.

Participants expressed the hope that such workshops would not only raise public awareness but also play a significant role in enhancing efficiency and accountability in public services.

They also emphasized the need to sensitize government officials about the nature of journalists' work and the responsibilities of the media.
