Singapore envoy meets DU VC

DHAKA, April 29, 2025 (BSS) - The Chargé d' Affaires (CDA) of the Republic of Singapore in Dhaka Mitchel Lee 
today met the Vice Chancellor (VC) of Dhaka University (DU) Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan at his latter's office here. 
 
The meeting discussed issues related to academic collaboration between Bangladeshi and Singaporean universities.
 
DU pro-VC (Academic) Prof Mamun Ahmed, Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Hasan Abdullah Tawhid and the officials of Singapore High Commission Dhyana Lingesh and Hugh Kok Siang joined the meeting, among others.
 
During the discussion, both sides explored potential joint education and 
research programmes between DU and Singapore's National University and other 
institutions. 
 
Mitchel Lee delivered a lecture titled "Making Friends and Staying Relevant: 
Singapore's Foreign Policy" at DU's Professor Abdul Matin Chowdhury Virtual 
Classroom. 
 
Lee highlighted Singapore's economic development strategies and emphasized 
ongoing cooperation between Bangladesh and Singapore in education, research 
and cultural exchange. 
 
Director of DU International Affairs Office Prof Samsad Mortuza presided over 
the session.
 
The VC thanked the Singapore delegation for their interest in the 
university's academic programmes. 
 
The Singapore envoy stressed the importance of strengthening intellectual 
cooperation between the two countries' higher education institutions.
