CHUADANGA, May 17, 2025 (BSS) - A one-and-a-half-year-old boy drowned in a pond at Subalpur village under Jibannagar upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahman Ratan, son of Md. Mintu, a resident of the village.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jibannagar Police Station Md. Mamun Hossain Biswas confirmed the matter.

According to family members, the child was playing near the pond around 7:30am when he accidentally fell into the water.

Locals rescued the child and took him to Jibannagar Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
