National election roadmap approved, formal announcement any time

DHAKA, Aug 27, 2025 (BSS) - The Election Commission (EC) has approved the action plan (roadmap) for the 13th National Parliamentary Election, which would be officially announced at any time.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin, along with the four Election Commissioners and the EC Secretary, held a meeting this afternoon at the Election Commission Building in the capital's Agargaon to discuss the matter.

At the meeting, the Commission formally approved the action plan (roadmap) and the roadmap could now be formally announced at any time, said EC officials. 

Regarding the matter, Election Commissioner Md. Anwarul Islam Sarker said, "Everything in the action plan has been finalized. It has been approved and only the typing is ongoing now."

Meanwhile, the EC's hearings on the re-demarcation of parliamentary constituencies are scheduled to conclude this afternoon. Following the conclusion of the hearings, EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed is expected to brief the media on the overall developments.

Speaking on the matter, Akhtar Ahmed said, "We will come to the briefing. Alongside the constituency boundary hearings, this topic (the roadmap) will also be addressed."

Earlier, on Thursday last week, the four Election Commissioners and EC officials held a meeting to finalize the action plan for the 13th Parliamentary Election.

On that day, Election Commissioner Brig Gen Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah (Retd) had said that the EC Secretary would brief the media with detailed information regarding the action plan.

On August 18, EC Senior Secretary had said, "We had mentioned that we would finalize the election roadmap this week. The plan includes inter-departmental coordination and other relevant matters. The draft of the action plan has been prepared. It has now been submitted to the Commission for approval."
