KUET teachers announce sit-in program tomorrow

KHULNA, May 18, 2025 (BSS) - The Teachers’ Association of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) has announced a sit-in program in front of the Vice-Chancellor (VC) office demanding punitive action against those involved with recent clashes and assault on teachers.

Urging the authorities to take the action by Monday noon they also started to non-cooperation with the administration from today.

The decision was made in emergency general meeting of the KUET Teachers Association this afternoon.

Teachers’ Association President Professor Dr. Shahidul Islam presided over the meeting while General Secretary Professor Dr. Md. Faruk Hossain, was present, among others.

Earlier, the teachers held at a meeting with the VC to discuss on their demands.

General Secretary of the KUET Teachers’ Association Faruk Hossain in a press conference alleged that the university authorities halted the disciplinary process against the persons who were involved with the clashes and teacher assaults.

He also announced that the sit-in-program in front of the VC’s office on Monday noon if no satisfactory decision is made.

Meanwhile, a human-chair program was held in protest against online propaganda and bullying against KUET professor Dr. M. M. A. Hashem, teachers, students, officers, and staff.

Talking to BSS, Teachers’ Association President Professor Dr. Shahidul Islam said they had given the KUET administration time to restore academic environment.

But, they decided to go for non-cooperation with the administration and a sit-in protest in front of the VC office as their demands remain unrealized.
